We left the desert for Wadi Bani Khalid - one of the most famous wadis in Oman.
Go on, Google it up :)

From the desert to rocky mountains!





According to Hamood, those lines across the mountain, those were watermarks!
Yup, water used to fill up these streambeds which are now dried up


Hamood brought us to the top of some mountains... so that we looked down, we would see this!









Amazing how water could raise up to those lines!
SubhanAllah!

Of course, I'd jumped in joy when Hamood said that he would bring us down, right to the wadi... and if we'd preferred to swim, we could
(no, I didn't!)

The scenery when we got to the bottom i.e. at the wadi was just incredible!
My photo-taking doesn't justify the beauty of the place but still... enjoy it! :)

I didn't see any TV in the Bedouin home but as I was leaving it, I saw a huge satelite outside! Hmmph!

Hamood, the tour guide, wanted to show us his camels.
So, we went across the desert to look for his camels!

Finally, Hamood found his camels.
My lame memory can't even remember my TKC friends' (some of whom I spent 5 years with!) names, do you really think I would remember Hamood's camels' names?

Anyway, the baby camel was born 2 weeks prior to my visit to the desert!
THAT's how a two-week old camel looks like??? WHOA!!!



As soon as Hamood came out of the 4WD, he greeted his camel & LOOK!
The camel (which to me looks like a 'Hasana') came to kiss Hamood!


As we waved goodbye to 'Hasana' (ok, it might NOT be the camel's real name but she really looked like a Hasana to me!) and her baby, we started our journey to Wadi (wadi is dried up riverbed found in mountain valleys) Bani Khalid! :)

Day Four - Desert Safari to the Wahabi Sands, Wadi Bani Khalid & A Visit to the Bedouin Family Home


OK, before we get to the camel and all, let's enjoy the scenic (yeah, through the lense of my Leica, that is) view before we got to the desert.





Hamood was explaining what a wadi is & that is a Bedouin, and that we would see his village in the desert





The terrain changed quite drastically as we left the city

The dune bashing experience was just brilliant!
